Austria: Mogherini holds numerous bilateral meetings during Libya conference
High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini held bilateral meetings with several key officials and heads of state, in Vienna, Monday, on the side-lines of an international conference on the political situation in Libya.
Among the leaders met by the EU top politician were Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Mustafa Al-Sarraj and Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Javar Zarif. One the same day, Mogherini spoke to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Azeri President Ilham Aliyev regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Around 20 foreign ministers - including those from Russia, the USA, Germany and France - are expected to consider measures for stabilising the situation in Libya.
The North African country just established the new 'Government of National Accord' under Al-Sarraj, which is looking to assert its authority across Libya and counteract the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL).
