Japan: Lavrov holds bilateral talks with FM Kishida in Tokyo

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov started his two-day visit to Japan by meeting with his counterpart Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Friday.

The Kuril Islands territorial dispute and the signing of a peace treaty between the two countries will reportedly top the agenda of the talks.

The ministers are also due to discuss a wide range of separate issues including the fight against terrorism, the situation in the Middle East and events on the Korean peninsula.

Lavrov and Kishida are due to hold a joint press conference following their meeting.
