Turkey: Clashes erupt as activists protest Istanbul counter-terror op.

Clashes erupted between police and protesters in Istanbul on Wednesday evening. According to reports, a group of protesters gathered in the Gazi district of the city to show their disapproval of the Turkish security forces’ counter-terror operation that targeted the Yuruyus magazine building that took place earlier in the day. Police used water cannon and tear gas in a bid to disperse the group.

Security forces raided a number of addresses as part of the anti-terror operation. Some gunshots were heard in the area during the police operation, according to local media.

Officers from the counter-terrorism unit of Istanbul’s Police Department raided the addresses at the same time, alongside officers from a special operations unit. A police helicopter also assisted in the police operation.
