      Syria: Syrian Army follows ceasefire in Zamalka and keeps readiness

      Footage released on Thursday shows the Syrian Arab Army troops at the Damascus suburb of Zamalka, keeping their readiness while following the ceasefire agreement.

      A commander confirmed that the troops "fully adhere to the agreement." However he clarified that they are "ready to respond to any hostile actions". "We are ready to respond to any hostile actions against us or against the capital. This means that we can reflect attacks, but we do not attack the militants" said the commander.

      Russia and the United States reached an agreement on a ceasefire in Syria on February 22. On February 26, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2268 approving the Russian-American joint statement on the cessation of hostilities, which came into effect on February 27 at 00:00 Damascus time (February 26 at 22:00 GMT).
