
Belarus: Business owners protest against 'economic genocide' of new decree
Hundreds of small- and medium-sized business owners and managers marched from Oktyabrskaya Square to the House of Government in Minsk on Sunday, to protest against a recent presidential decree, which they claim will hurt profits for their companies.
Entrepreneurs demanded the annulment of Presidential Decree No. 222 while holding banners reading ‘Stop economic genocide,' among other slogans.
Presidential Decree No. 222, which came into force on January 1, prohibits the sale of imported goods without the goods’ country of origin being made known.
