Greece: Meet Dinghy, the Syrian refugee dog
A group of Spanish lifeguards named a dog "Dingui" (Dinghy), according to footage filmed in Lesbos on Sunday.
Axier is a Basque lifeguard who came to Greece with his team in order to help the refugees. Some days ago a little dog was found unaccompanied in one of the refugee vessels. The Spanish lifeguards named the dog "Dingui" after the Spanish word for boat and Axier decided to fulfil his dream to adopt a pet.
Axier believes that the dog is Syrian as lots of refugees arrive in Lesbos with their pets. The happy dog has been enjoying his new family and the lifeguards also rescued a cat from a boat carrying Syrian refugees last week.
