Russia: DM Shoigu praises modernisation of Russian Aerospace Forces
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu praised the development and modernisation of the Russian Aerospace Forces while speaking from the Ministry of Defence in Moscow, Tuesday.
"Now the role of Russian aircraft in providing security and defence capability is increasing. That is because of its abilities for reconnaissance, covering troops and important state objects, its ability for high-precision strikes and also in conducting special tasks," Shoigu stated.
"There are over 3,000 planes and helicopters in the Russian Aerospace Forces and the proportion of modern or modernised aircraft is 52 percent," Shoigu noted. "The latest Sukhoi multi-purpose super-manoeuvrable fighter SU-35s and the SU-34 aviation complexes [fighter planes] and KA-52 and Mi-28n attack helicopters have been received by Russian forces," he added.
The Russian defence minister made clear that "the Defence Ministry attaches special significance to the development of aircraft and training of high quality aviation experts," stating that "it is one of our major priorities."
