Elephants at Berlin's Tierpark Zoo received a late Christmas snack on Thursday. Leftover Christmas trees were fed to the animals as part of a festive treat provided by the workers at the zoo.

The zoos latest baby elephant addition, born on New Year's Eve, also joined in on the feed. Weighing in at 100kg, she is the sixth calf born to mother Kiwa.

It's a tradition at Berlin zoos to feed the animals Christmas trees that have been left unsold during the winter holidays. The trees contain a sweet resin high in vitamins and nutrients, while the needles present no problem for the elephants.
