UAE: See 48th floor view of huge blaze that ripped through Dubai hotel
Footage captured by a Filipino photojournalist from a balcony of the 48th floor of the Address Hotel shows the moment a blaze ripped through the skyscraper in Dubai on Friday.
Dennis Borja Mallari was at the hotel taking photos of fireworks over Dubai's night skyline as part of an assignment for his newspaper when the fire broke out after a fireworks display malfunctioned. The photographer managed to survive the fire by escaping to his balcony, where he was eventually rescued by emergency service workers several hours later.
The five-star hotel in Dubai's downtown became engulfed in flames on New Year's Eve while the city was preparing to welcome 2016. The fire caused 14 injuries, while one person died due to a heart attack.
