Spain: Rajoy meets Ciudadanos leader for talks on forming new government
:
The leader of the Spanish Ciudadanos party Albert Rivera held a meeting with the Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy in Madrid, Monday, to discuss potential agreements on forming a new Spanish government after the general elections on 20 December.
Albert Rivera pointed out his opposition to Catalan separatists, stating that the government "will not support in any case, any formula, any government or waybill that professes to break Spain and to break national sovereignty and the equality of all the Spaniards."
The PP gained 29 percent of last Sunday's general election vote. Although, it is the worst result in a general election for the conservative party. The Socialist Party party received 22 percent of the vote and Podemos picked up over 20 percent. This left a situation of uncertainty as Rajoy will try to form a government, but deadlock could conclude in new elections if he doesn't receive enough support in parliament.
