Switzerland: Terror alert at Zurich Jewish school leads to heavy police deployment
A terror alert was raised after 'suspicious activity' was reported in the vicinity of a Jewish school in central Zurich, Thursday, prompting a heavy deployment of armed police, who immediately arrived at the scene.
The roads surrounding Schontalstrasse were closed down and the streets were cleared after the alarm was raised late last night. Local media reported a car with a Belgian license number had passed several times in front of the school, while earlier in the day on Wednesday a man was seen to be acting suspiciously close to the premises.
Heightened security across major European cities has been raised since co-ordinated terrorist attacks were launched on the French capital, Paris, on November 13.
