      Syria: International journalists visit Russia's Hmeymim Airbase

      A group of foreign journalists visited the Hmeymim Airbase in Latakia, Wednesday, to observe the operations carried out by the Russian Air Force.

      The Russian Ministry of Defence lets the press enter the airbase on a regular basis to allow journalists to learn more about how the Russian Air Force is conducting its air campaign in Syria.

      Since launching their air campaign on September 30, Russian jets have conducted close to 5,000 sorties against the so-called Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL) and other militant groups in Syria.
