
Russia: Putin meets Security Council amid tensions with Turkey
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the country's Security Council in Moscow, Friday, to discuss tensions around Syria following Turkey's downing of a SU-24 jet on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu, were among those attending the meeting.
A Turkish Air Force F-16 shot down a Russian Su-24 bomber, which was taking part in Russia's anti-terror campaign in Syria on Tuesday. Ankara claims that its jets shot down the plane for an alleged violation of their airspace. Russian General Staff and the Syrian Air Defense Command say that there was no such violation.
