UK: Anti-Tory protesters march through London with Osborne's cuts set to continue

An anti-austerity, anti-Tory march starting on London's Trafalgar Square, Tuesday evening, saw roughly 100 protesters, some of them clad in UK Chancellor George Osborne masks, holding banners and placards and demanding an end to the government's spending cuts.

Green Party deputy leader Amelia Womack said that she considers the cuts "immoral and unjust" and that "they are tearing apart the very fabric of our communities." Womack also went on to argue that Osborne’s policies create "a kind of UK that I don't want to be a part of", for it is a "kind of UK that is basically putting people against each other, rather than building our communities as a whole."

The protest was held on the eve of the spending review in which more cuts are expected by Osborne in order to balance the books. The route that the protesters marched is from Trafalgar Square to Downing Street, where the budget discussions between British Cabinet ministers are due to be held on Wednesday morning.
