UN: Downing of Su-24 means Syria peace process efforts must 'redouble' - UN's Rycroft
The United Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Matthew Rycroft said that efforts to "search for peace in Syria" must "redouble" in light of Turkey downing a Russian Su-24 fighter jet at a press statement following Security Council consultations from the United Nation's HQ in New York, Tuesday.
"We must find a political solution to the Syria conflict and in the meantime we have to make sure there are proper de-confliction measures in place to prevent accidents and incidents like this happening again," Rycroft, who is also President of the Security Council for the month of November, added.
