Ukraine: Protesters force Kiev court to free suspected Rada attacker Sergei Boiko
Svoboda party member and OUN battalion fighter Sergei Boiko was released by Kiev's Pecherski court, Sunday, after hundreds of protesters rallied outside the court house, demanding that authorities free him immediately.
Boiko was arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of having been involved in the deadly attacks against the police and National Guard outside the Verkhovna Rada on August 31.
The attacks took place after around 1,000 nationalist activists gathered outside the Ukrainian parliament to protest against a draft bill on constitutional changes that would grant greater autonomy to the Donbass region. A combat grenade was thrown at police and national guard officers who were trying to prevent protesters from getting too close to the Ukrainian parliament building. In total four servicemen were killed and at least 150 were left injured as a result of the violent clashes.
