
Philippines: World leaders gather for APEC summit
Leaders from around the world gathered in Manila on Thursday, for this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
Economic leaders from APEC's 21 member economies, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, People’s Republic of China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United States of America, and Vietnam were all present for the summit.
Due to its high-ranked guests, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are on red alert status during the two-day event.
The Philippines hosted for the first time ever the APEC summit in 1996 in Subic.
