CCTV footage released on Sunday shows the moment a crowd of people discovered a newborn baby dumped in a trash bag at the Lisandro de la Torre service station in the Mataderos district of Buenos Aires.

The baby was found on a sidewalk in a trash bag by a crowd of people after it was brought from a toilet cabin by a cleaning lady. People waiting to enter the bathroom realised that the garbage bag was moving.

The footage also captured the couple suspected of abandoning the baby leaving the service station with a young girl after the woman, who appears pregnant, enters and leaves the public toilets at the station. Authorities suspect the woman gave birth to the baby in the toilets before dumping it in the trash.

The 3 kg (6.6 lb) baby still had its umbilical cord attached when found and was reportedly suffering from hypothermia.
