Russia: Forty-nine IS targets destroyed in Syria in 24 hours - Defence Ministry
Russia's Air Force announced from Moscow on Saturday that they have successfully destroyed 49 so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) targets during the last 24 hours.
Major General Igor Konashenkov, the official spokesperson of the Russian Defence Ministry, said that a total of 36 sorties from the airbase in Hmeymim had struck critical IS targets. The aviation successfully struck "underground compounds, control points, the facilities where the self-made ammunition was produced, the artillery positions of terrorists, ammunition and armament depots", he said.
IS held positions across Hama, Idlib, Latakia, Damascus and Aleppo Governorates have suffered severe set-backs as the Russian Air Force steps up its campaign in defeating the terrorist organisation.
