Israel: Five stabbed with a screwdriver in Tel Aviv
Five people were stabbed with a screwdriver by a reported Palestinian near Azrieli Center in Tel Aviv, Thursday, among them one female Israeli soldier who was badly injured. The attacker reportedly tried to flee, but was shot then arrested by Israeli police.
According to the Israeli authorities, the attacker is Thaer Abu Ghazaleh, a resident of the Old City in Jerusalem. He worked at a construction site in Tel Aviv.
The series of stabbing incidents started last Sunday, when a Palestinian man stabbed two Israelis in Jerusalem's Old City and was shot dead by Israeli forces shortly after. Palestinians were barred from the city for two days. The Israeli crackdown following the attacks led to over 129 Palestinians being injured across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on Tuesday, bringing the number of total injured Palestinians over the past week to 600, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health and Red Crescent medical agency.
