Russia: West turns blind eye to elements of Ukraine conflict - Naryshkin

Russian Federation, Moscow
October 1, 2015 at 08:03 GMT +00:00 · Published

One of Russia's top politicians, Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin attacked Western powers for their apparent choice to conceal and turn a blind eye to the "causes of the Ukrainian tragedy" and concealing "the role that was played in it by neo-Nazi forces," during an address to the International Parliamentary Forum in Moscow on Thursday.

He also stated his belief that Western interventions in North Africa and the Middle East have created "chaos" and a "humanitarian disaster."

Naryshkin said the "unprecedented migration crisis in Europe" was caused by "building relations with extremists". The seriousness of the situation "confirmed that intervention in a sovereign state" could "plunge entire regions of the planet into chaos."

The leading Duma Deputy was also quick to defend Russia's "military operation supporting the Syrian Arab Republic against the so-called Islamic State" as being in accordance with international law.
