
Russia: Spasskaya Tower military music festival kicks off in Moscow
The eighth International Military Music Festival "Spasskaya Tower" kicked off on Red Square in Moscow, Saturday. The beginning of the festival was marked with an honourary march along Tverskaya Street in central Moscow that featured up to 1,500 musicians of the Russian and foreign military bands.
Along with previous years the festival coincides with the Moscow City Day on the first weekend of September. Russian and foreign military orchestras, classical, folk and rock groups as well as Russian Guard of Honour of the Presidential Regiment and riders from the Kremlin horse riding school took part in the event.
Red Square is hosting the festival until September 13 with over 50,000 people expected to attend the celebration. A joint band with all the participants will appear on the Red Square in the official closing ceremony.
