
Russia: Iranian FM Zarif touts stronger ties with Russia
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke of the opportunity to forge closer ties between Tehran and Moscow after the lifting of sanctions on Iran, during a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow, Monday. Zarif stated that "Russia is a country which stood with Iran during the difficult times."
Answering questions about Iran's position on the Syrian crisis, Zarif reiterated the Iranian position that "the only way to resolve the Syrian crisis is through political means," stating that Iran shares the same position with Russia.
The two ministers are expected to discuss the sale of Russian S-300 missiles to the Islamic Republic.
