Israel: Fatal Gay Pride stabbing condemned at Tel Aviv rally
Protesters gathered in Tel Aviv, Saturday, to condemn the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Shira Banki at Jerusalem's Gay Pride parade. Banki suffered critical injuries after she was stabbed by an anti-gay, ultra-Orthodox Jewish man on July 30. The high school student died of her wounds in the Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem on August 2. Attendees can be seen waving LGBT pride flags, banging drums, dancing and marching to music.
Banki was one of six people stabbed in the attack at Jerusalem's Gay Pride parade. The attacker Yishai Schlissel was arrested at the scene by Israeli police. Schlissel had only been released from prison three weeks before the incident took place after serving a 10-year sentence for carrying out a similar attack at Jerusalem's gay pride parade in 2005.
