US singer Mariah Carey received her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, Wednesday. Carey who is a five-time Grammy winner received the honour for her achievements in the entertainment industry.
The forty-five-year-old singer arrived at the ceremony, held outside the W Hotel, wearing a long black dress. Her children Monroe and Moroccan were present on the special day along with her record producer L.A. Reid and Academy Award-nominated director Lee Daniels. Carey, who has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, told the crowds at the ceremony that she was "very honoured and very humbled" to receive the award.
Carey 's star is the 2,556th on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 2.1 kilometre (1.3 mile) stretch of stars is filled with the names of famous film directors, actors, singers, producers, fictional characters and musicians.
