France: Angry farmers burn mailboxes and drop dung outside local admin
Angry farmers built a wall in front of a government building in Grenoble and burnt its mailbox, Wednesday. They action was organised to show their anger about how food prices at supermarkets are impacting upon their livelihoods.
After the farmers built the wall in front of the regional directorate for territories (Direction departementale des Territoires), they also poured dung and left paper waste behind.
According to the farmers, the falling prices of beef, pork and milk are crippling their incomes. The French government has announced that it will support the farmers with a €600 million ($655m) aid package, but actions are expected to continue as many feel this is not enough and long term solutions are needed.
