State of Palestine: Violence in the West Bank following funeral of man killed by IDF
Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers clashed in the village of Beit Ummar in the West Bank, Thursday, following the funeral of Falah Abu Maria, a 53-year-old man was shot and killed by Israeli Defence Force (IDF) earlier that morning.
The shooting occurred during a night-time raid by Israeli forces on Abu Maria's home, during which the man was shot, reportedly after coming to the aid of his son, who had allegedly been shot by the IDF earlier in the raid. Falah Abu Maria is the seventeenth Palestinian to be killed by the Israeli army in the West Bank since the beginning of 2015.
Clashes ensued after Abu Maria's body was carried to the Beit Ummar cemetery, with IDF soldiers firing rounds of live ammunition as well as teargas canisters, sound bombs and rubber bullets, while scores of Palestinian protesters threw volleys of rocks and stones. Local media are reporting that at least two protesters were injured with bullet wounds.
