
Russia: Former cosmonaut Alexei Leonov praises images of Pluto
The first human to conduct a spacewalk praised the New Horizon images of Pluto in Moscow, Thursday, during celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the Apollo/Soyuz Test Project.
Despite marking the historic event of the first joint American-Soviet collaboration in space, Alexei Leonov praised the pictures of Pluto.
Leonov was speaking at Star City's Museum of Cosmonautics outside Moscow, where he was joined by his fellow mission commander astronaut Thomas Stafford.
On July 17, 1975, Leonov and Kubasov onboard a Soyuz-19 spacecraft docked with the U.S. Apollo craft with Thomas Stafford, Vance Brand and Donald Slayton. It was a major milestone in the joint exploration of space that culminated in the International Space Station.
