
Russia: Rosneft sign oil deal with Indian multinational at BRICS summit
Rosneft oil company finalised and signed a contract to supply an Indian oil refinery with 100 million tonnes of oil over ten years, the company’s CEO Igor Sechin announced during the seventh BRICS Summit in Ufa, Wednesday.
The deal was reached after a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi according to Sechin. He added that in the future, the deal between Rosneft and the Indian multi-national Essar’s Vadinar refinery in the Indian state of Gujarat would include increasing oil refining to 45 million tonnes, it is currently 20 million tonnes, and would also see an increase in the network of gas stations from 1,600 to 5,000.
The BRICS summit comes ahead of the 15th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on July 9 and 10, which will also be held in Ufa. In total, 10,000 visitors are expected at the two events.
