Russia: FM Muallem questions US policy on "confronting terrorism in Syria"

When asked about the United State's position on Syria, the country's Foreign Minister Walid Muallem commented "They don’t understand that the financing and weaponising of terrorists will come back to them."

Commenting on the Syrian president Muallem also said that "we support Bashar Al Assad not because he is Bashar Al Assad, but because he is a guarantor of security for Syria who can lead Syria to the shores of security – this is fundamental."

He also added that Russian President Vladimir Putin had confirmed that Russia would continue to send political, economic and military assistance to Syria in its fight against terrorism.
