France: Say hello to the Iris Viseo, a transformer-esque surveillance vehicle
French car manufacturer Iris presented its newest creation 'Viseo' at a car park in Cambrai, Monday.
With a cabin that can be lifted to 3.5 meters (11.5ft) above the ground, it is designed for security purposes, enabling the driver/security guard to keep a cool head even if things get out of hand. The ability to have a view above the ground, specifically in public order events, was considered of benefit to authorities. French municipal police have reportedly already purchased numerous vehicles.
The one-seater mobile is powered by a 95kW (127 horsepower) engine that receives said power from a 48V battery, that takes a maximum of eight hours to charge, while its top speed is 25km/h (15 mph). According to the company producing the car, 95 percent of it is recyclable, while the body is made from polyester fibres.
The aesthetic of the vehicle turned a lot of heads as it was trailed; some saw it as humorous, others as an eye-sore, "I don't think it is very beautiful, I don't like it," one spectator said of the creation.
