Macedonia: Protesters demand resignation of government in Skopje

Protesters returned to the streets of Skopje on Thursday, demanding the Macedonian government resign in the wake of deadly clashes between state security forces and anti-government groups in the northern Macedonian town of Kumanovo over the weekend.

Protesters waved the Macedonian flag and held placards with slogans such as "resignation" and "protest." The demonstration has remained peaceful so far.

Tensions are high in Skopje, after 22 people were killed, including 8 police officers during a shootout involving around 70 armed people at the weekend. Prosecutors have charged 30 people with terrorism for the attack, while a police investigation is still underway.
