
Germany: Candle-lit vigil held outside school of Germanwings crash victims
A candle-lit vigil was set up outside the Joseph-Koenig Gymnasium high school in Haltern-am-See on Tuesday, where 16 students aboard the Germanwings flight 4U 9525 were studying. Two teachers from the school were accompanying the students on their return flight to Germany following an exchange trip to Spain.
The head of the high school suspended all classes and sent students home following news of the incident.
The Airbus 320 went down between Digne and Barcelonnette in Southern France en route from Barcelona to Duesseldorf. 144 passengers, two pilots and four cabin crew members were on board the plane when it crashed, all of whom are believed to have died in the crash.
