Russia: Boris Nemtsov’s body removed after central Moscow shooting
Emergency services removed the body of Boris Nemtsov from the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky bridge by the Kremlin after the Russian politician was gunned down in Moscow, Friday.
Reports indicate that a white vehicle pulled up close to Nemtsov before an unknown assailant unleashed a series of shots, hitting the former politician several times. Police and emergency services rushed to the scene of the crime, which occurred on Bolshoy Moskvoretsky bridge near the Kremlin’s Vasilyevsky Spusk. Nemtsov was pronounced dead on arrival.
President Putin ordered the Head of the Investigative Committee to take personal control of the investigation. According to the president’s spokesman Dmitri Peskov, Putin noted that the "brutal' murder bears all the hallmarks of a contract killing and is of a purely provocative nature."
