France: 'No political agreement on Debaltsevo events' - Ukrainian FM Klimkin
A political agreement on "how to condemn what happened in Debaltsevo" has not been reached, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin at the French Foreign Ministry in Paris on Tuesday. His remarks to the press came after a meeting with his German, French and Russian counterparts to discuss the conflict in eastern Ukraine following the February 12 Minsk agreement.
Klimkin said, however, that he and his counterparts had agreed on a number of technical aspects such as how to support and strengthen the capabilities of the OSCE monitoring mission, as well as the need for an immediate ceasefire and pullback of forces.
On February 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel signed the latest Minsk agreement. The 13-point agreement stipulated a ceasefire from February 15, a buffer zone and the pullback of heavy weaponry by both sides from the line of contact.
