
Italy: Over 100 migrants rescued off Lampedusa coast
The Italian Coast Guard intervened off the coast of Lampedusa and transferred over 100 migrants to the Peluso CP 312, Friday. The migrants have now been transferred to land.
The UNHCR (The United Nations Refugee Agency) has described the Mediterranean crossing from North Africa to Europe as the "most lethal route in the world" after announcing 3,419 migrants died in 2014 attempting to make the journey.
