Ukraine: Head of Ukraine Bank showered with money as she addresses Rada
The head of Ukraine's national bank was showered with money as she addressed the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (parliament) in Kiev, Friday. Valeria Gontareva was beginning her address when she was approached by deputy Oleg Valeryevich, who proceeded to shower her with bank notes. The deputy was reprimanded by the parliament's chairman before the Gontareva was allowed to continue.
Gontareva has been an advocate for both austerity and external support in the mission to overcome Ukraine's struggling economy, which has recently seen foreign currency reserves depleted to $7.5 billion dollars (€6.5 billion).
