
Germany: Merkel talks positively about Astana meeting on Ukraine conflict
Germany's Angela Merkel expressed hopes for the proposed next top level meeting on the Ukraine conflict aimed to be held in Astana, when meeting NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Berlin, Wednesday. She spoke of the need of seeing "tangible results" before such a meeting could take place.
During the press conference, Merkel also made clear that she does not want a politics of opposition with Russia, but one of mutual co-operation.
NATO's Stoltenberg spoke of the importance on the Minsk Memorandum, and once again called on Russia to exert influence over the forces in east Ukraine, who NATO accuse Russia of supporting.
Prior to the press conference, Merkel honoured Stoltenberg at the Chancellery.
