Germany: Holy ship! One of the world's BIGGEST ships docks in Hamburg
One of the world's biggest ships, 'The Globe' docked at the port of Hamburg Tuesday, as part of the Chinese container carrier's first voyage.
Owned by Shanghai-based China Shipping Container Lines, 'The Globe' measures 56.8 metres wide (186ft), 73 metres high (240 ft) and 400 metres long (1,312 ft). The 18,600-tonne vessel spans an area nearing the size of eight Olympic swimming pools, allowing it to carry up to 19,100 standard, six metre-long (20 ft) containers.
The ship, the first of five sister ships, will be used to take products between Asia and Europe, and is due to return to China by February 25.
