UAE: Ever seen a camel in a Lycra suit?
Camel racing will never be the same again thanks to German company Al Shibla, who unveiled their line of specialized lycra suits designed to help camels go faster in races, at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, Tuesday.
The custom designed 'compression' suits aim to improve performance by increasing blood flow in the muscle. The snug suits are made of a thick material similar to that of a hospital compression sock, and increases circulation by slightly constricting blood vessels. The suit triggers more blood and oxygen to the muscles, reducing the lactic acid build-up that causes cramping.
Due to the varying sizes of camels, there is no 'one size fits all' suit, and the designs are made to measure. Al Shibla is also in the process of designing suits adapted for camels ages six months to four years, along as special suits for mature camels.
