A prisoner of war exchange took place in the Donetsk region, Friday with Kiev handing over 222 fighters and anti-Kiev forces bringing 145 Ukrainian troops for exchange.

The swap comes after Kiev and eastern Ukrainian militia leaders agreed in Minsk, Wednesday to exchange captive Ukrainian fighters for militias from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

The procedure took place at 20:21 local time in Yasinovataya without violations. Additional exchanges are due to take place Saturday.
