UK: Russell Brand fights against New Era estate eviction plan
Comedian and activist Russell Brand joined protesters in central London on Monday to demonstrate against US owned firm Westbrook Investment firm which has acquired 93 apartments on a council estate and plans to triple rent prices.
Brand joined the people of the New Era Housing Estate who face being turfed out of their homes before Christmas by the US firm, gathering outside the Westbrook headquarters before marching to Downing Street to hand in a petition to Prime Minister David Cameron.
Brand called the actions of Westbrook "pure corporate greed" and said the working class people of Great Britain are neglected by the "political class."
