Iraq: Air Force firepower eliminates ISIS militants
The Iraqi Air Force led a series of air strikes on self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formally ISIS/ISIL) militants close to Baghdad, Saturday, eliminating a large warehouse of weapons and ammunition, as well as killing several of the group's militiamen.
Scores of IS fighters in Syria and Iraq have been killed in recent weeks following air strikes by both the Iraq government and the US-led coalition, especially around the Syrian border town of Kobane. Iraqi troops have also made several advances during November, recapturing territory close to Iraq's biggest oil refinery near Baiji.
