Bulgaria: 'Joining NATO was a mistake' says Attack party leader
The leader of the Bulgarian nationalist party Attack, Volen Siderov, said Bulgaria joining NATO was a "mistake." He made the comments during a parliamentary session in Sofia, Wednesday.
He said Bulgaria joining the European Union and NATO were the biggest mistakes the country had made during the last 25 years. Siderov said membership of those two organisations hadn't brought any benefits to the country. He added that Bulgaria is a "colonial" entity of the West, used as a pool of cheap labour.
