Spain: See Catalan President Mas cast his indy ref ballot
Catalan President Artus Mas cast his ballot in Barcelona on Sunday, as the region prepared to vote on whether Catalonia will become an independent state.
Although Madrid considers the vote illegitimate, Catalans will go to the polls to answer two questions: whether they want Catalonia to be a state and whether they want that state to be independent from Madrid creating a new European country.
The vote however is unbinding and informal and will not lead to any mandatory political change.
