Ukraine: See Zakharchenko cast his vote in Donetsk

Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Aleksandr Zakharchenko cast his vote in Donetsk on Sunday as elections to the People's Council of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics opened.

Voting between the 'Free Donbass' and the 'Republic of Donetsk' parties will take place across 377 polling stations in Donetsk, and 95 polling stations in Lugansk. Russian and foreign electoral observers will monitor the course of elections.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on Tuesday that Moscow would accept the outcome of the elections. However, the EU, U.S. and Ukraine have declared that they would not recognise the electoral outcome.

Polls opened at 0400 GMT and are due to close at 1600 GMT.
