UK: Occupy protester arrested after sitting on Churchill statue for over 24 hours
An activist who was standing on the Winston Churchill statue in London's Parliament Square was arrested on Wednesday night. The protester, known only as 'Dan', had climbed up onto the statue's base on Tuesday afternoon and refused to jump down. Police officers put up a fence around the statue and erected scaffolding in order to remove him.
The square has been closed off to the public by police in order to prevent protesters from the Occupy London group from assembling on it.
