Colombia: Watch police attack student protesters in Bogota
Colombian police were seen attacking protesters in Bogota on Thursday, as thousands of students took to the streets to protest recent education reforms proposed by the Ministry of Higher Education.
The government plans to privatise public universities so as to turn them into profitable, self-financing institutions.
The university budget for 2015 has been frozen at 2.5 billion pesos ($1.2 million), which university students complain is not enough to fund the sector. Tuition fees at private universities have also risen, rendering studies unaffordable for some people.
