September 30, 2014 at 22:41 GMT +00:00 · Published

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced on Tuesday the government had approved and then submitted a budget proposal to the State Duma for the next three years.

The draft budget was tailored to take into account the current economic conditions faced by the country. The government believes it has created an almost deficit-free budget for the period 2015 to 2017.

The proposals do not include the introduction of sales taxes, and tax increases have been avoided. Defence spending will rise by over 21 percent in 2015 and the outlay on education, healthcare and social policy will go up by 7.3 percent.
