      UK: Scottish independence decider leaves nation on the brink

      Scottish voters in Edinburgh were arriving to cast their ballots a few hours before polling stations closed on Thursday. Ninety-seven percent of eligible Scots are registered to vote in the referendum on independence for Scotland. Meanwhile there's a predicted turnout of eighty-two per cent. All polling stations will close later in the evening at 22:00 local time (21:00 GMT).

      Official results are expected to be announced on Friday morning, though regional results could start coming in as early as 02:00 local time (01:00 GMT).
